Back in Astoria, my landlady Maria used to spring out from under the stairs (just as I was trying to make a clean getaway) like she was some troll hiding under a bridge. OMG, that must have been terrifying! My first landlord once came to get the rent—at 3 am 😳🙀 Needless to say, I did not open the door. He’d developed an issue with Bolivian marching powder and needed cash quickly. Our heat and hot water went off soon after that due to non-payment… Ah, good times! 😹
Shocked Jerry is SO perfect omg 😂 His spiky hair and tail and googly bug eyes and frozen posture, ah! 👩🍳👌💋 I could stare at just that one panel and giggle to myself for ages
The WELL? doormat is such a delightful touch to the scene. I love that the blue makes it easy to overlook, so when my eye finally caught it, I got to feel clever for spotting it! 😆 Also so tickled by the dog’s pouty expression when Jerry nudges it away
What does it mean to be the MOST mortal??? 🤣 I want to incorporate that into my daily vocabulary now, especially as I myself am the oldest of a trio of sisters: “As the *most mortal* sister among us, I call shotgun”

Ah, the MOST mortal: So Medusa’s sisters were legit goddesses. I don’t know why she wasn’t granted that status, but I also feel MOST mortal—beautifully flawed, and occasionally having to make my own rules because this puzzle piece don’t fit 😹 I believe you make MOST Mortal status a badge of honor! 🙏🙌💖
