Sorry to hear that the rona has you down. Been there and it was a good 10 days before smell and taste returned. Love the watercolors and recommendations. For some reason, watercolors always scared me but I'll definitely check em out and let you know how it goes. Get well and stay well, friend! 😘

Hoping my sense of smell is only on vacation around as long as yours was, Craig! I know some people who led rather dull lives for longer 😑 It’s true, people are scared by watercolors, but here’s my theory: I don’t think anyone actually has to be GOOD at them in order to enjoy using them. Like, a large percentage of what I draw and paint isn’t actually “good” by whatever standards people use to judge these things. But I’m in it for the doing, which is really enjoyable. Watercolors are the opposite of scary! Go back to child mode, when none of us cared about results, only about FUN, and you’ll love it. As I love you. 💖

Last month was so tough on you! So great how you kept yourself sane by drawing and how the bright colors added a happier vibe. That tiny kit! It’s pretty amazing.

So sorry to hear you've been ill! But I love the mini WC setup! Years ago, I found a child's keychain palette (1.5x2.5") and used it with tube paints and a waterbrush. I made small booklets with WC paper and kept the "kit" in a sandwich baggie in my purse. Restaurant napkins and a plastic straw for refilling the waterbrush and I'm all set! Watercolor is so immediate and responsive: I love it by itself and with pen and ink.

I spent the past several years focused on mixed media while doing classes for Spark and AIR, but I just started a WC class with AIR to alternate with the ongoing mixed media class. Getting back into it has been fun—a bit of the historical roots with JMW Turner and how his methods are still relevant.

Sending you caring thoughts as you recover. Lots of rest with your favorite music or audiobook will help!
