Wayback Wednesday: Comics Blast from the Past
Anyone remember Gregg shorthand? Anyone? ...Bueller?
Show some proof of life by clicking that little heart! It’s the only way I know I’m not alone here…
Greetings from the 1980s! Sorry I’ve been quiet—there’s been lots going on, from the amazing (comics school!!1) to the bleaaarrrrgghhh (medical procedure; always a thrill).
ANYway, I wanted to share this little comic memoir I made two years ago (maybe three? I still have anesthesia brain). At first, Like, TOTALLY!! was going to be a graphic memoir, rather than a “based on” thing, and this is the very true story of my stint in secretarial school. If you don’t know/remember what that is, that’s why I made this comic. Such weirdness should be documented. All the weirdness, and wonderfulness, of our lives should be documented.
What weirdness of your life would you like to document in comics? Tell me!
I’m in the Sequential Artists Workshop Year-Long Program. If you’ve ever wanted to make comics but have been hesitating because you think you can’t draw, don’t know the first thing about comics, or are convinced the world is coming to an end, I strongly encourage you to check out this life-changing program. Classes start again next September. Until then, they have live comics classes every single Friday night on YouTube, and they’re FREE! I kid you not!
Urgh the beige nylons!
Funnily enough, I am currently taking a course to learn to blind-type with 10 fingers! That’s in order to hopefully get a better posture when working at the computer. (However, when video-editing, I slouch right back to the old posture 😂)
the word most often uttered from my mouth when I tried to type was "S**t". Never got very good at it. Even on the computer keyboard, "delete" is the most-frequently depressed key. Gimme a fountain pen and some luscious paper; let me write longhand or doodle happily. Love you.
